Become a HICAP Volunteer

The HICAP program is always looking for volunteers.  We also have a special need for volunteers who are bilingual in English and Spanish.  Please give us a call at 1-800-434-0222 to inquire about joining the HICAP team.

Our volunteers help in the office, assist with special projects, staff educational and outreach events, and counsel current and future Medicare Beneficiaries on their health insurance benefits and options.

New volunteers receive free, in-depth training about Medicare rules and regulations.  We schedule the training around your availability.  After the basic training, volunteers complete a hands-on internship with seasoned HICAP Counselors.  Once you finish your basic training and internship, you are then a registered Medicare counselor with the California Department of Aging. We have counseling sites located throughout Ventura county, and you will be assigned to a location near your home.  Once you have been with the program for more than a year, you may take the more advanced Long-Term Care Counseling and Community Education training if you so desire.

Our volunteers find working with HICAP a rewarding way to give back to the community. They also express appreciation for the ways  they are able to help themselves and their loved ones due to their increased knowledge of Medicare.

Please give us a call at 1-800-434-0222 to become a part of HICAP.
